Special Projects
The Vineyard
As a joint initiative between the Welfare Council and the churches of the H.K.S.K.H. Deanery of the Southern and Western Districts, Diocese of Hong Kong Island, namely St Stephen’s Church, St Luke’s Church and St Timothy’s Church, the Vineyard has been making an important collaborative efforts between the churches, schools and social service units since November, 2014. The efforts have resulted in the provision of more social and missionary services to the residents of Aberdeen.
Scope of Service
The Vineyard offers after-school care services and recreational activities, among other programmes, for children and families, to meet the former’s growing-up needs and to improve parent-child relationships. Church members of the Deanery of the Southern and Western Districts Diocese of Hong Kong Island actively volunteer in the initiative’s daily work tasks, for example, by serving as babysitters and leading recreational activities and classes designed to benefit children’s development. The Vineyard would also invite professionals from various fields to host talks for parents.
