Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council (the Welfare Council) and Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) have collaborated in the establishment of “United Count” Transitional Housing Project at Tung Tau, Yuen Long, with the support of government funding. The Project provides 1,800 units with the objective of improving the living conditions of grassroots families. Through the delivery of social services, we aim to inspire our residents to participate actively in the activities of United Count, thereby building a caring, supportive and inclusive community together.

 

United Count is located on 1 Shan Pui Road, Tung Tau, Yuen Long, adjacent to Yuen Long town center, with developed facilities nearby. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to Yuen Long MTR station. A minibus line is located outside United Count to connect to the Yuen Long town center. Modular integration construction method is adopted when building United Court. It consists of 8 residential blocks; each block has four floors without lifts. United Court offers 1-person, 1-2-person, 2-3-person and 4-5-person units and accessible units to cater for the needs of different families. It is equipped with integrated social service centre, mini-store, self-service laundry, communal kitchen, SE United Cut, plaza, communal farm, and waste stations.

 

As of the latest data, only a small number of 2-3-person unit are still available in United Court, the rest of other units are fully occupied.

The Welfare Council is responsible for project planning, construction, operation and management, and providing residents with a variety of people-oriented community services. SHKP has provided the land lot with a lease of 8 years minimum as well as full support from preliminary project planning and basic site formation.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Type A Applicant (Have Priority):
    The applicant who has been on the application waiting list for public rental housing for not less than 3 years*, or
  2. Type B Applicant:
    The applicant has been living in inadequate housing conditions or with imminent housing needs*

*Please follow the rules and regulations in the Application Guide.

 

Application Methods

Each applicant (including family applicant) can only submit ONE application by either ONE of the following options. Apply for free:

  1. Online Application

  2. Applicants can choose one of the following ways to submit the application form:

(i) Mail to "Task Force on Transitional Housing, PO Box 183, General Post Office", with "Transitional Housing Application" marked on the envelope;

(ii) Fax to 3565 4382;

(iii) email to thapp@hb.gov.hk;

(iv) Or return the application form to the collection box at the Customer Service Center of the Hong Kong Housing Authority or the Cash Allowance Office of the Housing Department.


Remarks: The Welfare Council reserves the right to cancel all duplicate applications.

「麥匯.業成」業成街組合社會房屋計劃

The Lady MacLehose Centre was commissioned and subvented by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to operate the “LMC Hub - Yip Shing” Yip Shing Street Modular Social Housing Project in Kwai Chung. In combination with the Lady MacLehose Centre’s diversified social services and regional collaboration force, the project will assist grassroots people and families living in poor conditions to improve their living environment, promote their physical and mental health, enhance personal competence and broaden social networks. It will also promote mutual assistance among grassroots communities to give back to the community via “participative management”.

To support families living in undesirable environments, the Welfare Council has joined the “Community Housing Movement” of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) as one of the operators to provide transitional accommodation. Located at To Kwa Wan Road, the “Good Homes” project aims to encourage co-living and co-management and improving the housing conditions of underprivileged families, while promoting a neighbourly culture. The project was made possible by the joint effort of different parties, including the contribution of 61 units in 4 building blocks by Henderson Land Development Company Ltd., the funding of the Community Chest and the coordination of HKCSS. (The Project has ended.)

梁太曾在新界的百呎劏房內居住,當時家中廚廁合一,每月甚至要負擔7,000多元的租金加水電費用。由於居住環境較差,加上時常擔心被加租與逼遷,因而時常失眠,繼而情緒緊張。

在社工建議下,梁太申請入住同心村,現已居住超過一年。梁太表示,如今與丈夫住在同心村兩人單位中,月租只需2千多元。中心時常舉辦活動,她不時參與中心舉辦活動,與鄰居建立友好關係,迎來光明愉悅的新生活。

歐太一家三口之前居於200多平方呎的天台屋,她形容屋內「又熱又焗」,多玻璃門且沒有防護網,時刻擔心幼女安全,搬進同心村後,家居安全有改善;以前租金要5,300元,現時只需3千多元,加上由同心村步行至元朗站只需約10分鐘,丈夫外出上班亦節省部分交通費。

區太太亦指,女兒在搬進「同心村」之前,性格比較安靜內向,如今在村內的兒童遊玩區認識了一些新朋友,可以和其他小朋友一齊玩滑梯,社交活動比以前更多了,女兒變得更加開朗活潑。
