The Welfare Council participated in the 'Meiriki Nutricity', organised by Meiriki Japan and CUHK's Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences. The theme, 'Healthy and Happy Families', aimed to improve the health and well-being of elderly people in our community.
Our youth members, trained as 'Mindfulness Nutritional Ambassador' (MNAs), paired up with seniors for 'Silver Yoga' and 'Healthy Sauces' workshops. The yoga helped to slow muscle loss and improve balance to prevent falls. The workshops also encouraged seniors to eat more naturally by replacing high-sodium sauces, improving their diet.
At the closing ceremony, the Wong Tai Sin District Health Centre ran a health check booth, and a freestyle rope skipping performance brought energy to the event. This project helped seniors learn more about health and built a supportive community through friendship between generations, spreading a sense of well-being.
