Powers and Responsibilities of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee

 

Organization Structure

The Board of Directors is responsible for the affairs of the Welfare Council. The Board of Directors delegates the day-to-day management of the operations of the Welfare Council to the Executive Committee.

The Board of Directors comprises 6 members, including a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, a Honorary Treasurer and a Honorary Secretary.

The Executive Committee comprises 11 members, including all members of the Board of Directors.

 

Powers and Responsibilities

Pursuant to the powers conferred by the Articles of Association and Bylaws and in accordance with the objects clauses in its constitution, the Board of Directors shall manage the operations and services of the Welfare Council, including but not limited to:

  • accept annual reports recommended by the Executive Committee;
  • accept the audited accounts;
  • elect and appoint members of the Executive Committee;
  • elect and appoint an auditor or auditors for the Welfare Council;
  • advise the Executive Committee in respect of the policy or development of the Welfare Council.

 

The principal roles of the Executive Committee is to support the Board of Directors to:

  • coordinate and develop the social services of the Welfare Council;
  • manage the provision of services by the services units of the Welfare Council;
  • coordinate all Member Agencies and all other organizations providing welfare or community services under the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui.
